Currently Reading
The Time Traveler's Wife
By Audrey Niffenegger
see related
I've rediscovered the joy of leisure reading.  I'm reading "The Time Traveler's Wife" and just finished "The Alchemist" in Chinese (why would I torture myself to read a book in Chinese when it's also available in English? Because I need to practice reading Chinese faster).

So, are there any good titles out there that I should check out? Chinese novels are fine too.

P.S. "The Time Traveler's Wife" is in pre-production for 2008, and Eric Bana has been cast to play Henry DeTamble while Rachel McAdams to play Clare Abshire!! IM SO EXCITED :)

Happy Kappaversary! <3

-----
November 19, 2006

Alpha Kappas-

I can't believe it's officially been 1 year since we crossed into the fraternity. I still remember all the laughs, tears, "study sessions" that turned into drinking nights, fights, quizzes, quiz retakes at 7 in the morning, long networkings, shit-talking about actives we never believed we could be friends with, unhealthy late-night meals, all-nighters planning and prepping for events, long talks, shitty hotel for banquet ...literally, and even more drinks that we shared together like it was yesterday. I will always look back at Fall 2005 as the quarter when my grades dropped by 1.0, the quarter when my house flooded and I paid $1000 to get it fixed, the quarter where I lost 10 lbs because I had never been so stressed out with all the shit pledge period entailed, but most importantly, the quarter where I made 12 friends that I am so proud to call my pledge brothers.

Remember getting drunk and promising each other to get AK tattoos after we crossed? I think we even designed one during a drinking night at Omar's. Damn, whatever happened to that STRONG bond we later learned to be
brotherhood? We definitely drifted apart after crossing, and I guess that is normal after not seeing everyone every single day, but I seriously want that CONSTANT feeling of me having your back and you having mine, BACK!
... NOW!

It's ironic that this milestone comes during the same week as Thanksgiving Holiday. I just wanted to set some time apart and thank everyone for being awesome pledge brothers. I hope that you guys have an AWESOME time at
KAPPAVERSARY celebrating the past year, and I honestly CANNOT wait to be back in 2007 to make even more memories with AK. I hope this can be a time where all of us can look in retrospect at the good times we shared during Fall of 2005, and pledge to make even MORE memories for 2007.

WE'RE ALPHA KAPPA SON...
and we're NUMBER 1!

Let's not forget that!

P.S.
We need an AK Vegas trip, can anyone hook up a fake ID for our Fundraising Chair?!?! I don't want to wait till JULY!

P.S.S.
Enjoy your THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY with your family. Be thankful you get to eat good food and spend time with family, because I don't!

Happy Kappavesary BROTHERS,

my motivation to work hard

I am suffering from lack of:

- Brighton sea views

- Sussex people...so many good memories =)

- Good conversations +

- The absence of conglomerates of obnoxiously loud young Asians who thinks they're the shit
- Ireland, Milan, Paris, Amsterdam
- Guys taller than me who speaks proper English
- The British accent
- Pimm's & Strongbow ::cries::
- Clubbing (no I don't believe in 18+ clubbing), cocktails, pubs
- Fast-paced, big city life...another reason why I need to go back to Tokyo, London, or even NY
- Public transportation

Take me back... !!

* thanks to everyone who tried to help in my sparkling water entry! i ended up mixing it with juice because although boiling the water worked (thanks angela!!), it tasted like the pot...now im home and dumb incidents like that wont happen again.

SPARKLING FUCKING WATER

WHY DO EUROPEANS LOVE SPARKLING WATER SO MUCH? who actually drinks SPARKLING daily for their water intake??????

and why do they use the EXACT SAME LABELS for both types of water and put a small, discreet sparkling on the side so people grocery shopping in a hurry can't read it clearly?

now i have 8 liters of sparkling water sitting at my desk. i'm going to have to make my soups and coffee out of CARBONATED, BITTER, and DISH-WASHING-LIQUID-TASTING water.

does anyone know how to de-carbonate sparkling water? or ways to drink it other than mixing it with juice? please help me because i think im going to cry.
